Stoplight Preaching with a heckler - Hollywood

Chris Stoplight Preaching on Hollywood Blvd

It looks like Hollywood & Highland Ave., has turned out to be a great location to open air preach. Crowds gather at the street light and wait for the light to change and this gives us plenty of time to present the gospel to people that don't realize that they will one day stand before God to give an account of their life. Few will enter the kingdom of heaven but many will be cast into the lake of fire.

Dru Stoplight Preaching

Before going out to Hollywood, I spent time praying for God's will to be done, that the Lord be glorified and that His word accomplish what pleases Him. I then got down to Hollywood & setup and since I was by myself I decided to go ahead and get up on the box. My initial fears were quickly gone as I open my mouth and shared the word of Christ.

Me standing in front of Brett's coffin
Chris in front of coffin on Hollywood Blvd

The thought that God's word is sharper than any two-edged sword brings peace and confidence as I take the captive audience through the good person test while at the same time quoting scripture that supports what i'm telling them. I prefer that when someone admits that they've lied that I tell them that in Revelations 21:8 that it is written that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. Or if they admit to stealing that no thief will enter the kingdom of heaven. That misusing God's name as a cuss word or in any other fashion is called blasphemy and that God will not hold them guiltless who uses His name in vain. That it is appointed for a man or woman once to die but after this comes judgement.

Joshua handing out gospel tracts
Joshua giving a gospel tract

An amazing thing happened at the corner where there is a kiosk setup that sells wind spinners & shoe skates and we have been asked many times by the guys that work there for us to move some where else because they believed we scared business away, but on this Saturday the guy that was working there asked if he could borrow my microphone to promote his business so I agreed and at certain times he would ask for the microphone and promote his products. We became good friends and I discovered that Jeff had witnessed to him the previous weekend. He is in the video that is included in this blog post speaking in Hebrew at the beginning of the video clip.

Curiosity draws a crowd on Hollywood Blvd

After about an hour of Stoplight Preaching, Dru showed up and so did Joshua. They started handing out gospel tracts and I continued Stoplight Preaching. Joshua was such a great encouragment to me as he told me to keep it up and said it was really affecting people that were listening. I watched as one man stood there for atleast 15 minutes and listened to me present the gospel several times. At one point I broke down in tears as I preached the word as I pleaded with people to repent and believe the Gospel. Jeff eventually showed up and we were getting gospel tracts into many peoples hands.

I got into a conversation with two teenage kids. One of them said he had read the whole bible and gave several arguments that God was evil. He used many words that where so blasphemous that I cringed with sorrow for this young man. He jumped from one rabbit trail to another and I realized that I needed to focus on his conscience that whether or not what he believed was true or not that he would stand before a holy God that would send him to hell unless he turned from his sins and put his faith in Jesus alone to save him. A person that is obviously not a believer will not understand spiritual things written in the bible and trying to explain them to him is not wise. His female friend seemed to listen more and not arugue as much so i'm hoping that she was humbled by the law. In the end I gave them each "Why Christianity" and prayed that God would open their eyes.

Brett Open Air Preaching in Hollywood

Around 3:30pm Brett(Leon Brown's team) & Mark (Ed Lee's team)showed up with a group brothers and sisters with their coffin and did a great job of Open Air Preaching and Brett's wife got up onto the box for the first time and shared the Gospel to the Hollywood crowd. She did such a wonderful presenation that I thought she had done this many times before. Praise God for her faithfulness & trusting Jesus.

Robert & Mike
Mike & Robert - Academy Members

Mike (Steve Sanchez's team) & Robert (Ed Lee's team) from the Ambassador's Academy showed up with others from their church to evangelize. Special thanks to Mike for being very generous in buying me some AA batteries for my microphone, unfortunately it was my PA battery that had ran out. I see God raising up labors, prayer is being answered and the Good News is being heard. Pray that God will continue to bless us with divine appointments with lost people and increase our faith and knowledge of His word. Amen.

Stoplight Preaching - Is it effective?

Reformed Servant brought up some good questions that I wanted to respond to here in my blog since the comment section would have taken up way to much space for me to answer. I will try to answer honestly with scripture and my own thoughts. Here are his questions.

How effective do you think that style of open air preaching is? (stoplight)

Do you think this style of open air preaching is the model that Paul gave us in the book of Acts?

Do you think it is important to gather a crowd before doing open air?

Do you think this style makes Christians look like bigger weirdos then we should? (and we should look like weirdos to the world)

I will try to answer your questions to the best of my ability as a new and growing believer while at the same time trusting in the Holy Spirit to guide me as I answer your questions. You have brought up some great questions that I hope to respectfully answer.

First a couple of verses of God's word.

"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."(Hebrews 4:12)

"For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void. For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."(1 Corinthians 1:17-18)

The message is as effective as the truth that is being shared. Regardless of the circumstance or situation. Whether you're on an elevator, at the base of a pier or at a street corner, Gods word does not return void. It will accomplish what pleases God.(Isaiah 55:11)

Besides the model given to us in Acts, Jesus told His disciples to, "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every person" Mark 16:15 Not just certain places but all the world and that we preach in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2).

Worldly people have no problem with people performing magic, playing music or selling goods on the street, but when confronted about their sin and warned that they will spend eternity in hell unless they repent and put their trust in Jesus alone to save them is offensive, intrusive and foolishness (1 Cor. 1:23) to them. We look like fools (1 Cor. 4:10) to those who don't believe. Because they don't understand. (1 Cor. 2:14)

"but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

"And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead. (Acts 10:42)

Paul and the others who followed Jesus had to flee because the Jews, Greeks and rulers wanted to mistreat them and stone them. This went beyond the notion that it was foolishness what they were preaching because they tried to kill them. I think me & my fellow brothers and sisters have not experienced such persecution for openly sharing the Gospel in the way we do. One guy spoke out that no one was listening to me at one street corner as 30-40 people waited at the light but as this man cross the street, the person behind him smiled at me, giving me the thumbs up and thanking me for what I was doing.

It's rare that a non-believer will tell us what we are doing is wrong and even commend us for standing up for what we believe in. But the sad thing is that people who profess to be Christians tell us what we are doing is wrong, that nobody is listening, that our approach is harsh. Maybe these same professing Christians could have "taught" Paul a better way to approach people with the Gospel so that he wouldn't have his life threatened. Of course Paul's method was right on target even though it offended people to the point of wanting to kill him.

Before I ever did stoplight preaching I assumed that this method wasn't appropriate because I didn't want to infringe on someones right to privacy as they waited at a public corner for the light to change. But I was wrong. The stoplight draws the crowd and then we engage the crowd with the Gospel Message. Of course we get mixed responses from people. Those who disagree don't think we should be doing this but also don't believe that the law should be used to show a person that they've sinned against God even though scripture shows us other wise (Galatians 3:24). Non-believers either pretend we don't exist, smile or even engage in conversation and shake our hands when were done talking to them. Of course there are hecklers at times and we may expect worse, to the extreme of being killed for preaching the truth, but me or none of my other friends would never provoke anyone to do such a thing.

"Faith comes by hearing, and by hearing the word of Christ." (Romans 10:17) I'm not speaking of anyone in particular but anyone that would say Gods word is ineffective when spoken forgets what scripture tells us. If someone doesn't want to listen to the preaching of Christ it's because they do not believe and will not believe unless God draws that person to Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him and I will raise him up on the last day" (John 6:44) For some who think that this method will turn someone away from Jesus doesn't understand that everyone that doesn't believe already is condemned (John 3:18). Every soul belongs to God (Ezekiel 18:4) and not one that God has chosen will spend eternity in hell, not even one.(Romans 8:1)

And last but not least. We can never be more weird that we already are. We are fools for Christ (1 Cor. 4:10). God has chosen the foolish things of this world to shame the wise (1 Cor. 1:27). Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise."(1 Corinthians 3:18) "I have become foolish; you yourselves compelled me. Actually I should have been commended by you, for in no respect was I inferior to the most eminent apostles, even though I am a nobody." (2 Corinthians 12:11) "To my shame I must say that we have been weak by comparison. But in whatever respect anyone else is bold--I speak in foolishness--I am just as bold myself." (2 Corinthians 11:21)

Anything that goes against the love of this world is weird to unbelievers. I hope I was able to answer the questions above. Forgive me if I was vague in any way and will respond to any other questions you might have or I might have missed. I'm not someone that likes to write. I follow in the footsteps of other great street preachers of our time, such as Ray Comfort, Tony Miano, Leon Brown, Stuart Scott and many others.

All for the glory of God. Sincerely, Chris.

Hollywood & Glendale 05/17/08

Well it has been a long day and it was all well worth it. Gospel was presented to thousands of people and many of them got a gospel tract in their hands that we hope they will read later when the opportunity arises.

Thanks Jeff for coming out and helping.
Gospel Tract distribution - Hollywood

I planned on showing this Saturday by myself but was glad when a friend that I hadn't witnessed with in awhile wanted to come out and see me Stoplight preach. We had had a good time presenting the Gospel to complete strangers. We didn't have any loud hecklers this week so we were able to present the Gospel clearly without interruption.

I started off open air preaching at the stoplight and continued for almost 45 minutes before we were approached by the guys at the kiosk near the corner of Hollywood & Highland Ave. We told them that we would move to another street corner and wished the success with their business. After getting across the street and me doing alittle more Stoplight preaching, Jeff wanted to get up on the box and share the Good News. This was Jeff's second time ever open air preaching and so I wanted to get it on video. Here it is. I think Jeff did an excellent job.

We spent alittle over 2 hours in Hollywood and another good friend that we met only a couple of weeks ago came out to hand out gospel tracts. He's never open aired but I see that he's definitely thinking about it and i'm encouraging him to take that step of faith if he feels led to do so. Me & Jeff parted ways while Joshua remained in Hollywood for several more hours while I went home and got ready to goto Glendale where a large group of believers gather to share the Gospel using tracts, one-2-one witnessing and Open Air Preaching.

Tony Witnessing to 5 teens

Tony started off the night with open air preaching and got into a conversation with some kids. The kid to the far left is concerned that if he died that he would end up in hell for breaking God's law. The girl next to him professes to be a Christian but has never shared the Gospel with her friends and at times was laughing and joking about what Tony was telling the young man. Ofcourse Tony pointed this out the the girl and she became sober in her appearance and so did the other kids that were listening.

Part 1

Part 2

We're not out there to get decisions for Christ. We are out there to share the truth with love and respect for others. Faith comes by hearing, and by hearing the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17)

Here is Dru doing some Stoplight Preaching. I really enjoy hearing Dru share the Gospel.

Tony Witnessing to young man.

The Law is our school master that brings us to Christ. The law is the 10 Commandments. This man was humbled by the law when Tony asked him if he had ever lied, stolen or used God's name as a cuss word to express disgust. He knew he was guilty, admited it to us and was concerned that he would spend eternity in hell for breaking God's law. Tony spoke with him for a long time while his friends stayed near by. In the background Dru is witnessing to a kid with a black hat.

Tony Witnessing to a father

With a large crowd gathered. Greg from Last Words Ministry draws a crowd by offering $1.00 bills to people who answer trivia questions. After a large crowd had gathered, Greg took this man with the Laker shirt through the good person test. He believed that he was a good person but after Greg took him through the law of the 10 Commandments, he finally admited that he was not a good person.

God has written that no one is good, not even one. (Romans 3:12) and that all our righteous acts are like a flithy rag before God (Isaiah 64:6).

He, his family and many other people heard the complete Gospel message that is usually watered down in most American churches. The watered down message is leaving repentance & hell out of the message and also not using the law of the 10 Commandments to show us what sin is. Paul said, "I would not have come to know sin except through the Law" (Romans Chapter 7:7).

It was getting late but me & Dru were not finished. Dru pointed out a place down the street where the street corner becamed packed with 30-40 people waiting for the light to change. We each took turns sharing the Gospel while others handed out tracts and there were some in the crowd who nodded their heads in agreement and thanked us. One guy told me that no one was listening to me but the guy right behind him gave me the thumbs up with a big smile on his face.

Toward the end of our night 2 young ladies who professed to be believers tried to explain to that what we were doing wasn't the way Christians should be sharing the Gospel. We explained to them that faith comes by hearing, and by hearing the word of Christ, that Gods word more powerful than any two edge sword and that Gods word does not return void. It became noticable that the 2 young ladies were visibly shaken after one of them didn't believe that we should use the law to witness to people, but Joshua opened his bible to Galatians 3:24 where it says, "Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith."(Galatians 3:24) The girls then said goodbye and were on their way.

So the way is narrow that leads to life and few will find it. These are Jesus words. It's a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God. Please pray for everyone that has heard the Gospel this Saturday. Thanks for reading this.

Blasphemy or in Vain?

I had a conversation with an ex-pastor at Huntington Beach pier on the Saturday of the 1st Academy and he said that when we miss use the name of the Lord it's called taking Gods name in vain, not blasphemy. He said that blasphemy was when we claim to be God. I first struggled with this and tried to get him to stick around to speak with Tony but he had his family with him and they walked off before Tony got off the box.

I was reading my bible and I found some scriptures that will help answer his statement that using God's name as a cuss word is not blasphemy.

"Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking Him and beating Him, and they blindfolded Him and were asking Him, saying, "Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?" And they were saying many other things against Him, blaspheming." (Luke 22:63-65)

Verse 65 shows us that saying things against God is blasheming.

Then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and against God." (Acts 6:11)

In this verse Jesus is falsely accused of speaking blasphemy against Moses. Moses isn't God so that would simply mean that they had accused Jesus of speaking against Moses and God.

"But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming." (Acts 13:45)

Here we see the Jews began contradicting the truth of what Paul was speaking of Gods word and blasphemed. Ofcourse these Jews were not calling themselves God.

"And as I punished them often in all the synagogues, I tried to force them to blaspheme; and being furiously enraged at them, I kept pursuing them even to foreign cities.(Acts 26:11)

Paul tells us in this verse that he tried to get Christians to speak against God. Certainly Paul himself would not be trying to get Christains to profess they were God.

This verse is self-explanitory.

Also look at Acts 18:6, 1 Timothy 1:13, 1 Timothy 1:20, James 2:7, Revelations 2:9

Any time we use Gods name as a cuss word or flippantly we bring God's name lower than ourself and use it as filth or a joke is blasphemy. Remember Matthew 6:9, "Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name" Everything about God is holy, including His name. God has said, "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain."(Exodus 20:7)

If you've used Gods name as a cuss word and are concerned that God will not leave you unpunished then take the Good Person Test. I hope this helps.

Way of the Master - False Preachers

Way of the Master sent out a NewsBlast to everyone that is subscribed to their newsletter that they would be filming a scene for their 3rd Season that's coming out later this year. This paticular scene is a spoof on unbiblical preachers that highlights the top ten ways to fill the church with false converts.

When I arrived there were only a few people inside the church and another couple of people outside of the church and we were wondering where everybody was. It turns out that there would only be about 35 people that showed up to be apart of the audience but it went very well. There was no elaborate setup. The filming was done in Sun Valley, California at a small Chapel.

Jesus said, "Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. (Matthew 7:15)

The reality of bringing up this issue is that there are many false preachers who do things in the name of Jesus to get you to make a decision and as a result God will make everything better for you, whether it be your job, relationships, health, etc. This ofcourse is not biblical. Jesus promised His followers that there would be trials, tribulations and persecutions.

There is peace and joy in knowing that you are saved from eternity in hell but a pastor should never use prosperity, wealth and health as a draw card for salvation. We don't come to Jesus so He will fix our life, we come to Jesus because we've sinned against a holy & righteous and good God that will not turn a blind eye to sin. If you've told a lie, it makes you a liar. If you've stolen something then that makes you a thief, if you've looked with lust then Jesus said that you've committed adultery already in your heart(Matthew 5:27-28). If you've broken just one of the commandments then you're guilty of all of them (James 2:10). So if God finds you guilty, you'll end up in hell. That is where I was headed.

After looking in the mirror of Gods law, the 10 commandments, none of us can say that we are good people. God says that our hearts are deceitful above all things and desperately sick (Jeremiah 17:9), that no one is good, not even one (Romans 3:12). We may appear good when we compare ourselves to others but according to God's standard we are ruined, separated from God, enemies of God (Romans 5:10) and worthy of judgement and punishment for eternity (Romans 6:23).

But it's not Gods will that any should perish because God sent His Son, who is fully God and fully man, to earth, He lived a sinless life, showed us how we should love God and love others and died a horrible bloody death on the cross to pay the punishment you and I deserve for breaking His law and then Jesus rose again on the third day, defeating death. We broke the law but Jesus paid that fine for those who would repent (Luke 13:3) from their sins and put their trust in Him alone for their salvation. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6) So repent and believe the Gospel. Read your bible and obey what you read. God resist the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." (John 3:16-17)

So doesn't the Good News make sense now that you know what the bad news is? If we do not understand the disease (sin) then we will never understand the cure (Jesus). "For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18)

Morning Show Evangelism

Me & Dru went out to Hollywood for the second weekend in a row and when we got there, we were glad to see Joshua had come to help hand out tracts and engage people in one-2-one conversations. I brought lots of tracts and Dru brought his foldaway steep stool. I brought my PA System and Dru brought his.

Dru immediately came up with a new way to share the Gospel on street corners. Dru calls it Morning Show Evangelism. We each take turns asking each other questions and each of us takes turns sharing the Gospel with each other. I'm not sure anyone else has done this but me & Dru are hooked on this method of sharing the Gospel.

Once up on the box, Dru would ask me questions such as What does a person have to do to get to heaven? or I think i'm a good person and should goto heaven, what do you think, what about people that have never heard the name of Jesus? Me & Dru would have conversations, sharing the gospel at the same time with both of our PA Systems broadcasting the message.

We see this as a great tool in teaching people that want to get up on the box but are worried that they might forget something or blank out completely. Joshua was watching the crowd and said that many people were watching and listening to us share the message and I even watched a husband and wife stand there with their two kids and listen to the entire gospel presentation. They thanked us and walked across the street. Several people thanked us for what we were doing out there.

We covered many different subjects and there were times when I got alittle flustered or just simply forgot what to say so Dru would pick up where I left off and when Dru would finish speaking I would start again. I've never had so much fun and shared so many different topics with people on the street before. We will definitely be doing this again.

Here's me Stoplight Preaching

Pray that people understood the bad news, which is that they've broken God's law, the 10 Commandments and that God will sentence them to hell if they do not repent from their sins and put their trust in Jesus alone to save them.

Baptism + Gospel - Huntington Beach

At the end of Day 3 of the Ambassador's Academy, the director of the Academy Tony Miano had the honor of baptizing 2 Academy members. Here is footage of the first baptism and Gospel presentation to the crowd of beach goers that gathered to find out why there was a large group of people fully clothed standing at the shore line.

The Most Important Word In The Bible

This sermon was preached at Granada Hills Community Church by Tony Miano on December 30th, 2007. Tony is an elder of the Church and also the director of the Ambassador's Academy for LivingWaters. I was blessed to have video taped the message because of the power of the message that is contained in this sermon. Scripture filled and biblically taught by a man that practices what he preaches. I have visited many churches but i've never heard a message like this. If you hunger and thirst for righteousness then this sermon will help satisfy your craving for the truth.

Open Air Preaching in Glendale - 05/03/08

After spending the afternoon with Dru in Hollywood doing some stoplight preaching I went home and rested before heading out to Brand Blvd. in Glendale, California. This is one of the regular fishing holes that my good friend Tony Miano enjoys sharing the Gospel. It's turned out to be one of my favorite places as well to not only hand out tracts and engage people in spiritual conversations but also to get up on the box and share the Gospel.

If I put my trust in myself I would have never got up on the box. I'm a shy person that has kept to myself most of my adult life. I never thought that open air preaching would be something that I would do. I figured it was for people who had the gift. I started off by leaving gospel tracts in different places and emailing gospel messages on myspace but then I started going out to places where other evangelist witnessed to people at the mall and as scared as I was I kept showing up and over time I gained the courage through prayer, reading the bible and fellowshiping with likeminded people. It was a process that has lead me to where I am now. Still growing and learning and trusting in God to use me to bring glory to His Son Jesus Christ.

Tony Miano draws a crowd

If I constantly compared myself to others like Tony who is a warrior for Christ, I would always be depressed and discouraged but this is not how it has to be. God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. When we are weak, He is strong. Being obedient no matter how we may feel will bring glory to God and also bring peace and joy to us who believe and trust Him.

Pastor Harka Khadka from Nepal

I met Pastor Harka Khadka who is from Nepal and I was convicted by the fact that in his Country he would be thrown in jail for sharing the Gospel in public. God has given us so much because we live in a Country that grants us free speech. If God has given us much then I believe that we should be doing much with our freedom by bringing the Good News to people while it is still legal to do so.

Chris and Joshua witnessing

Joshua on the far left came out because he is a fan of and wanted to help hand out tracts. He got to see open air preaching for the first time and me & him got to witness with 2 guys. One of them didn't think you could be assured of your salvation but we shared with him that he could definitely know because God's word tells us. No one can snatch us from His hands. There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.

If you live in the Southern California area or plan on visiting the area then you should come down and watch or hand out tracts and possibly listen in on a witnessing conversation or open air session. We meet across the street from In 'n' Out Burger on Brand Blvd., at 6:30 and stay till 9-10pm.

Greg radio host of Last Words Radio

Last Words Radio team also comes out every Saturday night to hand out tracts, open air and get someone to be on the radio so that the gospel can be presented to them. The radio show is on KKLA 99.5FM at 10pm for 1 hour. You can also goto KKLA's web site and listen online or listen to the podcast.

Fishing With Trish

On the last day of the Academy everyone was down at the shore line to watch two people get baptized that were enrolled in the Academy. After the baptisms, Trish from suggested that we go witness to the guys that were standing near by. Here is the video that I took. Great example of how to approach a group of people to share the Gospel.

Baskin Robbins Gospel

Baskin Robbins 31 Cent Sale

My good friend Tony leads a bible discussion class at Granada Hills Community Church in Granada Hills, CA., every Wednesday night between 7-9pm. This paticular night, another friend of mine, Dru came to class about an hour late and before he sat down he mentioned that Baskin Robbins was having a 31 cent sale and that there was a line of people standing outside.

Baskin Robbins Open Air Preaching 02

Tony's eyes got big and I got excited as well. 4 days ago I had just completed the Ambassador's Academy which equips and encourages believers to share their faith 1-2-1, and through open air preaching. I over came the fear of stepping on the box this last weekend and now I couldn't wait to get up on the box in front of Baskin Robbins to proclaim the Good News to people that may have or haven't heard the Gospel before.

Baskin Robbins Open Air Preaching 03

So Tony took a consensus of the class and it was unanimous. We were going to Baskin Robbins in Northridge to share the gospel. All the glory goes to God. So faith comes form hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17)

Tony, Dru and me each took a turn at sharing the Gospel and I managed to walk through part of the line that hadn't been offered a gospel tract and I got a mixed reation from the crowd. One lady agreed with the message but felt that we should have asked permission from Baskin Robbins to do what we were doing. I personally disagree with her suggestion because the area we were preaching is open to the public and if we ask permission before we preach, we'll most likely not be getting any approval because the message of the Cross is offensive and foolishness to those who are perishing. Jesus said that the door is narrow that leads to life and few will find it (Matthew 7:14).

Pray for those who heard the Gospel, that they would repent from their sins and put their trust in Jesus alone to save them.

I have to admit that getting up on the box to share the Gospel is getting alittle easier. Although my heart still pounds before I get up on the box I know that i'm capable of presenting the Gospel clearly to people that need to hear it.

Street Light Preaching

Stoplight Preaching - Hollywood & Highland

Me & Dru Morgan decided to go out to Hollywood and open air preach on the corner of Hollywood Blvd & Highland. We thought we were prepared but unfortunately Dru left the mic cord at home so we tried to buy one on Hollywood Blvd but couldn't find a place that sold one. Dru struck up a conversation with a musician and asked him if he would loan us a cable. The guy offered to give us one but it turned out that it had the wrong connection.

Stoplight Preaching - Hollywood & Highland

I told Dru that when i was in Huntington Beach we didn't use amplification so it should be so bad to just get up on the box and speak loudly to the people as they waited for the light to change. I got up on the box first and I went through the Gospel presentation many times while handing out tracts to people that walked up and stared at the fake money I had in my hand, asking for one. I decided to try something different so I shared the Gospel message right off the back of the million dollar bill. I discovered that the presentation on the back of the bill is short enough to read completely before the light changes and people cross the street. We had a great time and handed out probably 300 million dollar bills.

Hollywood Evangelism

When I first heard of Streetlight preaching, I thought to myself that this wouldn't work. I've open air preached just a couple of times before so I wasn't really familar with it so when I watched others doing it, I thought to myself that I could do this. God's word does not return void. I love to use scripture when sharing the Gospel. Believing comes from hearing the word and without a preacher, how will they hear?

Million Dollar Bill Gospel Tract

Read first 1 Peter 3:15 and think about how you can be ready to share the Gospel with someone that isn't saved. Life is too short to be making excuses about sharing your faith with people that will spend eternity in hell. There is no second chance once people stand before God. Weeping and gnashing of teeth is what unbelievers will be doing when they realize they don't have the righteousness of Christ to save them from eternity in the lake of fire.

1st Ambassador's Academy

For 3 days I was blessed to be apart of a new ministry of LivingWaters that trains and equips born-again Christians to share their faith with others. When I first heard about it I was very excited. Tony Miano who is the director of the Ambassador's Academy has been a good friend of mine since mid-2006 where I met him at the Northridge mall during one of many street evangelism adventures. I had never verbally shared the gospel before that day but after truly repenting from my sins & putting my trust in Jesus alone for my salvation I wanted to obey God because I believed what Gods word said I should be doing. Mark 16:15 tells us to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. I think of Charles Spurgeon words, "Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you are not saved yourself, be sure of that."

Tony Miano - Ambassadors Academy

So because of the desire that God had put into my heart I wanted to attend the Ambassador's Academy so that I would be better equiped and encouraged to share my faith and to be able to boldly step up onto the box and speak to crowds of people about the Good News. The greatest fear that people have is Public Speaking. I agree, but what has caused this fear to become less of a burden is my trusting in the Lord. Philipians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Am I trusting in the Lord when I say I can't do something that is good and pleasing to God? I personally came to realization that by trusting in God I would be doing things that I never thought possible. I told God in my mind that there was no way I would ever get up on a box and preach but if it was God's will that I would do it anyways. How could I resist God who says, "With God, all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26).

So I was the first one to be accepted into the Academy. I thought of how unworthy I was to be going and personally struggled up to the day of the Academy with uncertainty of how I would participate in the 3 days of Evangelism Training, but I was certainly not disappointed with the results. The first day I got there I was sick with the flu. I bought Sudafed & Nyquil and went to my room and didn't come out until the next morning. When i had arrived I received a bag with 2 books inside plus the Academy Sylabus, sunblock and homemade cookies. Unfortunately I was too sick to make friends the first day so I would have to wait until morning.

When I woke up I introduced myself to my room mate, Steve who is the Pastor of Flatlick Church in Kentucky. We became instant friends and became an ecouragment to each other throughout the weekend even though we were not on the same team. We went down stairs and had our first free breakfeast. The food was incredible. I'm constantly reminded of how rich we are in America where we can pick and choose from a variety of foods and drinks. God has blessed us with alot. I thank Him for that.

After breakfeast we went to the room where the evangelism training took place and I sat in the front row. I had brought my video camera but unfortunately we were not allowed to video any of the class sessions. I'm actually okay with that because the 40GB of hard drive space on my camera filled up and stop just when Emeal "EZ" Zwayne closed us in prayer before Tony dismissed the class.

I'll be sharing more of my experience with the Ambassador's Academy in a future post. It is after midnight and I need to get some sleep because i'm going out to Hollywood at around noon to do some Stop-light preaching with my friend Dru Morgan who was one of the team leaders of the Ambassador's Academy. Thanks for reading.

Here is a video I took of our Team Leader "Ed Lee" giving us evangelism tips before we went out to Hollywood to share the Good News.
